Marquetry and Parquetry Specialist
Impact: Creating pictures in wood that transform furniture and architecture into works of art
Design and execute decorative wood veneer inlay work for furniture, architectural panelling, and fine art objects using marquetry (pictorial) and parquetry (geometric) techniques. Select and prepare veneers from rare and exotic timbers; cut intricate designs using a marquetry donkey or scroll saw; assemble and press panels; and finish surfaces to a mirror polish. Restore antique marquetry furniture for museums and collectors; undertake commissions for furniture makers, interior designers, and architects; and teach marquetry workshops.
